The resource units assigned to a task can be changed at any time.

Under its default settings, Project keeps the work value the same when resource units are changed.  This means the duration of the task must change.  In this case the halving of resource units will double the duration of the task.

Question 4

With the resource allocation halving, the duration will double to 4 days.  But the resource will only be working 50% of each day so the work will not be 32 hours (four eight hour days).

Under the default settings, Project keeps the work value fixed when resource units are changed rather than the duration.  Settings can be changed to fix the duration and when this is done Project will respond in the way outlined in answer D.
